Last Sunday took place the Grammy award ceremony, this year at the always wonderful and astonishing place Madison Square Garden, New York City.
It happens that last year I discovered that choral singing has it’s own gramophone statue within this awards! ‘Best Choral performance’ and also some smal ensembles became nominated under the cathegory ‘ Best chamber music/Small Ensemble performance’.
Nominees this year were six great choirs and choir-orchestral collaborations:
Best Choral Performance:
Bryars: The Fifth Century The Crossing and PRISM Quartet (winner)
Handel: Messiah -Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Toronto Mendelssohn Choir
Mansurian: Requiem -Münchener Kammerorchester and RIAS Kammerchor
Music Of the Spheres- Tenebrae Choir
Tyberg: Masses – South Dakota Chorale
Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance:
Divine Theatre – Sacred Motets By Giaches De Wert — Stile Antico
